SEMPHN commissions services and activities that aim to prevent suicide, support those who have attempted suicide and support those affected by suicide. Suicide prevention is a shared focus of the Victorian Department of Health and Primary Health Networks. As part of the Victorian Suicide Prevention Framework, the Victorian Government aims to halve the rate of suicide in Victoria by 2025.
