UTIs in the Elderly (Dandenong Practice Nurse Network Meeting)

UTIs in the Elderly (Dandenong Practice Nurse Network Meeting)

Event Overview

This education program and has been developed specifically for Practice Nurses and is being delivered as part of SEMPHN's Practice Networking Meetings.

Practice Network Meetings provide an opportunity for Practice Nurses across the region to come together to learn and network.

As nurses, you may have observed that the incidence of urinary tract infections (UTI's) in your elderly patients appears to be more common than other client groups. Is there a clinical reason for this or is it because the majority of your patients/clients are older?

Kerry Poole from the Continence Foundation will be delivering education on UTIs and Incontinence Associated Dermatitis in the Elderly.

By attending this presentation, you will learn more about:

  • The prevalence of UTI's in the elderly and the reasons for this
  • The most common causative organisms
  • Current antibiotic treatment
  • Suggested methods of prevention
  • New treatment options being used

Do you know what Incontinence Associated Dermatitis (IAD) is? With Practice Nurses already needing to know so much, do you really need to add IAD to the list?

Come along and learn about:

  • What IAD is
  • How to differentiate it from pressure injuries
  • How to manage IAD
  • Learn the CPR of IAD
  • The best resource for IAD information

Please note: Practice Managers have a concurrent education/networking activity at the same time and at the same venue.
