All your My Health Record questions answered!

SEMPHN hosted two My Health Record medico-legal workshops which were attended by over 100 healthcare professionals.
The workshops were led by Sophie Pennington, a Partner at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers, who specialises in health law.
She spoke about the value of the My Health Record system in routine practice, privacy and consent obligations, and utilising the My Health Record system in daily practice to improve patient safety.
Sophie Pennington was joined by an expert panel as part of a Q&A session towards the end of the workshop. Questions from GPs, nurses, pharmacists, practice managers and a number of other health professionals ranged from accessibility, responsibilities, uploading tests, and much more.
One GP asked: “Using My Health Record, a patient may be adversely affected by looking at pathology results before discussing them with their GP. What should we do?”
