What does a mental health funding extension mean for SEMPHN?
Thursday, 24 January 2019
On January 16, the Federal Minister for Health, Greg Hunt, announced a three-year $1.45 billion funding boost to PHNs for mental health services.
SEMPHN is set to receive funding which will be invested into mental health services across our catchment over the next three years.
This is great news for our community and service providers which means that investment in mental health has been extended to the middle of 2022.
While the funding is ongoing for the next three years, in our role as commissioners of primary health services, the extension of contract funding is conditional on contract performance and health outcomes achieved. SEMPHN has been in touch with all current mental health service providers to advise them of the funding extension.
