Mental health services in aged care facilities now available across region
Wednesday, 10 July 2019
SEMPHN is pleased to award Star Health the Residential Aged Care Facilities Psychological Services tender.
Following the current pilot program in Mornington, provided by Better Place Australia, the service area is expanding across the rest of the south eastern Melbourne through Star Health.
This service will provide new mental health services for older people with low to mild mental illness who reside in Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs).
This will help to address a current gap in services for older people and offer access to psychological services similar to those available in the community under Medicare.
This service will be provided onsite at RACFs to support residents with a mental illness who could benefit from individual, family and/or group psychological interventions from allied health professionals.
The services, awarded via open tender, will be gradually rolled out across the catchment from July 2019 until June 2022.
South Eastern Melbourne PHN acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land our catchment covers, the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri people. We pay respect to them, their culture and their Elders past, present and future, and uphold their relationship to this land.
