MyMedicare Conversations Starters resource available

November 18, 2025

A resource is now available to assist general practice staff in having conversations with patients about MyMedicare.

The resource is designed to help staff – including general practitioners, nurses, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health practitioners, practice managers and admin team members – to consistently communicate with patients about:

  • MyMedicare
  • registering in MyMedicare
  • what registering with that particular practice for MyMedicare may mean for their GP chronic condition management plans and mental health treatment plans.

The resource includes talking points for practice staff who are addressing patients who go to multiple general practices or who go to multiple sites of the same general practice.

Practice staff are encouraged to keep the resource at their desks as a prompt for verbal conversations with patients either in person or over the phone.

For more information about MyMedicare, contact your Provider Support Officer or visit SEMPHN’s dedicated MyMedicare page.
