A significant mental health gap remains between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians.

Almost 30 percent of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people report a diagnosed mental health condition as 'high' or 'very high' levels of psychological distress, which is nearly three times higher than what is reported by non-Indigenous Australians.

SEMPHN commissions First People’s Health and Wellbeing to provide services that meet the health and wellbeing needs of Australia's First Peoples by providing holistic, trauma-informed and culturally safe and appropriate mental health services in the Frankston local government area.

An integrated service that aims to address the needs of individuals including mental health, suicide prevention, social and emotional wellbeing and alcohol and other drug disorders, the service incorporates client-centred approaches, comprehensive care coordination and links with other Aboriginal and mainstream community health networks, organisations and services.
