Tenders awarded for four new Medicare Urgent Care Clinics in south east Melbourne

December 4, 2025

SEMPHN is pleased to advise that tenders for the establishment of four new Medicare Urgent Care Clinics (UCCs) have now been successfully awarded.

This follows the tender process initiated by South Eastern Melbourne PHN as part of the Commonwealth Department of Health, Disability and Ageing’s national expansion of UCCs — delivering 50 new clinics across Australia, including 12 in Victoria.

Final clinic locations and site details will be publicly announced in the coming weeks, ahead of commencement of services by 15 December 2025.

What Medicare Urgent Care Clinics provide
Medicare UCCs help reduce pressure on hospital emergency departments by offering urgent, GP-led care for conditions that need prompt attention but are not life-threatening. This includes treatment for issues such as sprains, mild infections, minor fractures, and minor burns. Clinics also provide access to imaging and pathology services.

All Medicare UCC services are:

  • open 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, including public holidays
  • fully bulk-billed, with no out-of-pocket cost to patients

Supporting access to care across the region
SEMPHN currently commissions four Medicare UCCs located in Dandenong, Frankston, Prahran and Narre Warren.

With the addition of four new clinics, residents across the southeast Melbourne region will have expanded access to urgent, timely, accessible care closer to home.

What happens next?
Over the coming period, SEMPHN will work closely with the selected providers to finalise operations and readiness for the December commencement.

We will:

  • announce the confirmed clinic locations
  • provide information for local communities about accessing services
  • continue to support general practices and providers through commissioning and onboarding

SEMPHN thanks all organisations that submitted tenders and for their commitment to supporting improved healthcare access in southeast Melbourne.
