Overview
Interventional Radiology is a growing field in medicine. This clinic is designed for patients who require specialised interventional procedures using imaging technology.
Patients will see a specialist radiologist who will discuss the procedure in detail. This also provides the opportunity for a thorough medical assessment, to ensure the patient receives the appropriate work-up before the procedure, such as blood tests or other imaging.
If the procedure is to be performed under a general anaesthetic the patient may be required to attend a pre – anaesthetic assessment clinic which the doctor will refer them to.
The patient may also meet our Interventional Radiology Nursing Coordinator who will be coordinating your procedure.
The range of conditions treated and elective procedures offered:
Assessment and treatment of vasogenic erectile dysfunction
Thyroid Nodule Ablation Service
Uterine fibroid embolisation (also known as uterine artery embolisation)
Treatment of pelvic venous congestion
Hysterosalpingography (HSG) and Fallopian Tube Recanalisation (FTR)
