New Alfred Health eReferrals available

April 16, 2025

Alfred Health has rolled out a new eReferral solution to improve the referral experience of patients, referrers and clinicians.

The new eReferral system – provided by Consultmed – will be available for referrals into Specialist Outpatient Clinic Services at The Alfred, Sandringham Hospital and Caulfield Hospital Home, Acute and Community services.

Consultmed eReferrals will provide an enhanced user experience, making it quicker and easier for you to send and receive referrals securely. Referrers benefit from:

  • Pre-population of patient details
  • In-built referral guidelines and Statewide Referral Criteria requirements
  • Simple attachment of reports, images and results
  • Acknowledgement receipt
  • Copy of referral automatically stored in your patients record
  • Real-time updates and notifications to keep you informed about the status of your referrals.

An additional ‘Advice & Guidance’ feature will allow clinicians to seek the advice of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Gastroenterology specialists via secure asynchronous digital communication to support management of their patients.

Consultmed integrates with Best Practice and Medical Director. Referrers with other practice management software (PMS) types will be able to utilise the Consultmed web portal to send and track electronic referrals.
