This free service provides specialised, multidisciplinary care for people living with endometriosis and pelvic pain.
The Australian Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has established endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics across Australia to reduce diagnosis timeframes and provide better care and pain management for those living with endometriosis, pelvic pain and other chronic pelvic pain conditions.
The south east Melbourne EPPC is being delivered by Dandenong Superclinic and funded by South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network (SEMPHN).
The clinic is funded until 30 June 2028.
Where is this service provided?
The clinic is located in the Greater Dandenong local government area but will accept patients from other areas across south east Melbourne.
Who is eligible?
Individuals who are:
- experiencing pelvic pain
- living with endometriosis
- navigating perimenopause or menopause
- requiring symptom management support.
What support is provided?
The EPPC provides:
- comprehensive assessments with clinicians experienced in endometriosis, pelvic pain and associated conditions
- pain management and symptom support, including evidence-based strategies tailored to individual pain profiles, incorporating both pharmacological and non-pharmacological options
- access to physiotherapy, dietetics, psychology, and specialist pelvic health services, providing holistic, multidisciplinary treatment that supports both physical and emotional wellbeing
- streamlined referral pathways to specialist care to reduce diagnostic delays
- education resources and self-management tools.
Why is this program needed?
Endometriosis is a complex and debilitating chronic condition that can be hard to diagnose. It is a condition that can start at puberty and continue through to old age.
It affects at least 1 in 7 Australian women, often causing chronic pain and fertility issues. Those living with endometriosis wait an average of 6–8 years before diagnosis.
Pelvic pain is similarly complex and debilitating, with broader social and economic impacts.
EPPCs aim to reduce diagnosis timeframes and provide better care and pain management for those living with these conditions.
The south east Melbourne clinic is one of 11 EPPCs announced in November 2025 by the Australian Government to expand access to specialised care for women and girls living in the regions and outer suburbs.
