Job Description

We are seeking GPs to work alongside our experienced Addiction Medicine doctors as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team. **You are not expected to practise addiction medicine** – your role will focus on providing high-quality general practice care to our patients.<br><br>No prior experience in addiction medicine is required. However, if you are interested in developing your knowledge and skills in this area, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced clinicians, with mentorship, training and supervision available.<br> <br>TEAM MEDICINE and COLLABORATION<br>Join a highly experienced and collegiate team of GPs with decades of expertise in general practice, mental health, and addiction medicine. Our doctors are passionate about delivering integrated, person-centred care to people experiencing mental ill-health and substance dependence.<br>You will work within a genuinely collaborative multidisciplinary team, with access to and support from:<br>- Psychology<br>- Mental Health Nursing<br>- Psychiatry<br>- Nurse practitioners<br>- Care co-ordination<br>- Addiction medicine specialist <br>- Group Psychoeducation and Recovery Programs- Reset Life/SMART recovery<br>- An Accredited Community Legal Centre<br> <br>You will have the opportunity to build trusted, long-term relationships with patients and provide continuity of care across all stages of their care. We support GPs to develop their own areas of clinical interest while maintaining the autonomy to practise medicine in a way that aligns with their professional values.<br> <br>You will also be supported by an exceptional nursing and administrative team who are committed to ensuring clinicians can focus on providing high-quality patient care. First Step is a renowned not-for-profit addiction, mental health, and legal services hub in the heart of St Kilda. We provide services to thousands of vulnerable Victorians every year, with the firm belief that everybody deserves every chance to turn their lives around.
