Dementia Rehabilitation Program extended

The Dementia Rehabilitation Program has been extended until 30 June 2027. The program provides support to people with dementia and their carers to maintain their independence.

Funded by SEMPHN and delivered by Encara, the free in-home Dementia Rehabilitation Program aims to improve access to allied health-led rehabilitation activities to support independence and wellbeing.

The multi-disciplinary program includes:

  • Weekly physiotherapy sessions to improve mobility, strength and pain management
  • Weekly occupational therapy sessions including home assessments
  • Holistic therapies, such as art therapy, based on personal interests
  • Access to podiatry, speech/pathology, and dietetics
  • Ongoing education and support for the participant and carer.

This free program is available to people aged 65 years and over living in Mornington Peninsula, Casey, Greater Dandenong, Kingston, and Frankston.

Since its launch in 2023, over 300 people have benefited from the program.
