Does your practice know how to stay safe in the event of a data breach?

July 31, 2026

There are ongoing cyber security risks for Australian healthcare providers following recent cyber attacks on a national network of GP practices and skin cancer clinics.

Common cyber security practices across general practice continue to present opportunities for improvement, particularly in areas such as credential management, password storage, secure communication of patient information and data backup processes. Strengthening these areas through ongoing support, education and practical tools can help improve cyber resilience.

For practices, knowing what to do in the event of a cyber breach and how to protect patient data is critical. In light of the recent nationwide attacks, it’s a timely reminder to stay vigilant and ensure you have the knowledge and processes in place to keep your practice safe.

The Australian Digital Health Agency offers free cyber security training for healthcare providers, including eLearning courses, guides and fact sheets.
