Homebound vaccination program extended to Flu

March 17, 2026

From April 2026, SEMPHN’s Vulnerable Peoples Homebound Vaccination Program can receive referrals for Flu vaccination only, to eligible homebound individuals. Previously, the Flu vaccination was not available on its own.

The Vulnerable Peoples Homebound Vaccination Program can be used to access Flu vaccination or COVID-19 vaccination at home, and is available until 30 June 2026.

To be eligible for the program, the individual must:

  • be homebound or have a genuine need for an at-home vaccination; and,
  • be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination (see eligibility criteria); or,
  • meet the National Immunisation Program eligibility for a Flu vaccination (see eligibility criteria

Anyone can request a vaccination for an eligible individual using the referral form on SEMPHN’s website. Individuals can also complete the form to request vaccination for themselves.

Once the referral has been received, a vaccination provider will contact the homebound person (or nominated contact) to assess eligibility, and, if eligibility is confirmed, will schedule a time for the in-reach home visit.
