SEMPHN is looking for three local health professionals or people with lived experience to join our Clinical and Community Council. 

 What is the Clinical and Community Council?

 Established in 2015, SEMPHN’s Clinical and Community Council consists of representatives across community primary health services. 

The Council provides advice and recommendations to SEMPHN and our Board of Directors. The Council’s insights support SEMPHN to achieve its vision of fostering and supporting a more equitable, person-centred and seamless health system, positively impacting health outcomes for local communities.  

The role of the Council includes: 

  • Providing clinical advice and guidance on matters relating to safe and high-quality planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation of health services and/or programs, which SEMPHN commissions or partners to provide 
  • Providing oversight of SEMPHN’s Advisory System, including Reference Groups as established by the Council or as requested by SEMPHN’s Board or management 
  • Participating in, or leading Reference Groups to complete the work of SEMPHN

About your role

As a Clinical and Community Council member, you will contribute your expertise and experience to inform decision making about SEMPHN’s programs, services and commissioning activities. 

You are required to attend two (2) of the three (3) Council meetings per calendar year and will receive a sitting fee for your attendance. 

Collectively, the Council will develop an annual Work Plan to be approved by the SEMPHN Board. Some reporting and paperwork may be required to communicate the Council’s advice to SEMPHN’s Board.

Who should apply?

We are currently recruiting three new members to our Clinical and Community Council. Candidates working in primary care or community services or living in south east Melbourne are encouraged to apply. To balance the skills and expertise of existing Council membership, SEMPHN is looking for candidates with an interest or speciality in: 

  1. First Nations peoples 
  2. Suicide prevention 
  3. Women with perinatal depression 
  4. General Practice 
  5. Community Health 
  6. LGBTIQA+ 
  7. Pharmacy 

Additional experience in Digital Health, Health workforce, Aged Care, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs and/ or Population Health is highly desirable.
