Applications open: Strengthening Medicare – General Practice Grants Program

South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network (SEMPHN) is pleased to extend the invitation from the Minister for Health and Aged Care, Mark Butler, for general practices in south east Melbourne to participate in the Strengthening Medicare – General Practice Grants Program.

The Program aims to help general practices and eligible Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) to expand patient access and improve general practice services.

General practices are eligible for a one-off grant of $25,000, $35,000 or $50,000. This amount is based on practice size and accreditation status. 

To participate, you must follow these guidelines:

  1. Read the invitation from The Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care 
  2. Read the Quick Reference Guide and the Factsheet about the program.
  3. Complete the Application Form which was sent to your general practice via email on 26 April 2023. Check your inbox for an email (from grants@semphn.org.au)
  4. Wait for an email containing the Funding Agreement (which will be sent to your inbox via DocuSign). Complete this document.
  5. If your organisation is not currently verified with SEMPHN via Eftsure, you must go through a once-off verification process with Eftsure to be paid – read more about the Eftsure verification process

Key dates

  • Wednesday, 26 April 2023: Applications open
  • Thursday, 15 June 2023: Applications close

SEMPHN will process all applications and payments as efficiently as possible, however, with the expected volume of responses this may take up to a few months.

NACCHO will be delivering the grants to Aboriginal Community Controlled Health organisations.
