State-funded GP Respiratory clinics to play a critical role in reducing the demand on hospitals

Five GP-led Respiratory Clinics (GPRC) are now operating across south east Melbourne as part of the Victorian Government’s $23 million investment to help reduce the burden on hospitals as they face predicted surges in COVID-19 and influenza cases. 

The clinics, based in Cranbourne, Narre Warren SouthOfficerMentone and Dandenong will support people of all ages, children and adults with respiratory symptoms (which includes COVID-19 Testing), to access a comprehensive respiratory assessment and management of their illnesses.

Services are available for those with or without a Medicare card, at no cost to the patient, with extended hours available and on weekends.

While some general practitioners or health professionals may choose to refer to these clinics, a referral to access the service is not essential. 

The GP-run respiratory clinics complement four federally funded GP respiratory clinics already in operation in Port Melbourne, Prahran, Carrum Downs and Rosebud.
