Mentone GP-led Respiratory Clinic's FREE service open for referrals

Plural Agency • April 11, 2022

GP Respiratory Clinics are open across South East Melbourne to support people of all ages with respiratory symptoms to access comprehensive respiratory assessments (including COVID-19).

Mentone Respiratory Clinic covers the local government area of Kingston. Mentone Respiratory Clinic assesses people with respiratory symptoms, including testing patients for COVID-19, the flu, and other respiratory viruses.

Jade Mare, Practice Manager at Mentone Respiratory Clinic, says:

"Patients at the Respiratory Clinic feel supported by the accessibility of the respiratory clinic and the access they have to COVID-19 care."

Mentone Respiratory Clinic offers a full nursing service to assist those that need education on the use of medications, spacers, oximetry and other self-care tools to make their COVID-positive period as easy as possible.

As part of winter preparedness, GP led Respiratory Clinics will be supporting people with mild respiratory symptoms, which can include sore throat, runny nose, mild cough, fatigue, or shortness of breath. These GP-led Respiratory Clinics play a crucial role in supporting our local primary health services by reducing the need of patients presenting at Emergency Departments.

The clinic can provide short-term support to manage a patient’s condition, before being referred to their usual GP for ongoing care and can assist a person to find a GP if they do not already have one. Services are available to those with or without a Medicare card, at no cost to the patient.
