[Closed] Provide care for urgent conditions as a Priority Primary Care Centre

October 21, 2022

The Victorian Department of Health has announced that 25 Priority Primary Care Centres (PPCCs) will be established in partnership with General Practitioners (GPs) in Victoria.

SEMPHN is pleased to invite accredited general practices to tender for four PPCCs in south eastern Melbourne.

What are Priority Primary Care Centres (PPCC)?

The PPCC initiative aims to reduce demand on hospital emergency departments by providing a primary care service for urgent conditions that do not require an emergency response. PPCCs are GP-led services that increase access to primary care and provide care for people with conditions such as mild infections, fractures and burns.

PPCCs may be stand-alone clinics or operate as part of a GP clinic or community health service. The Centres will be open for extended hours (up to 16 hours per day), 7 days a week and free for people of all ages (with and without a Medicare card).

The four PPCCs that SEMPHN is commissioning aim to support the following health services:

  • Alfred Hospital
  • Dandenong Hospital
  • Frankston Hospital
  • Casey Hospital

Note: Please submit one application per hospital site if applying for multiple hospitals.

An initial establishment grant of up to $150,000 will be available to PPCC service providers. Additionally, a monthly operating grant of approximately $180,000 is available subject to need in line with the PPCC service model (and cannot be used to support existing services or operating hours). Please read the specifications in eProcure for more details.
